Question How much power can an NA 13B make?

Guys,

I don't know much about the NA 13B's and their capabilities. I am considering buying a FC maybe a convertible. I don't want to supercharge or turbocharge it and I don't want to take the engine out and have it ported.

So, what kind of power at the wheels can I expect from a NA 13B with all the bolt on's.

I throw out a very optimistic 200 hp without nitrous.

It really depends on how much work you do to it, and how much you spend, and how much streetability you are willing to sacrifice.

PP's can easily make over 300 bhp

The MAF sensor on the n/a's becomes a real issue at around 210-215 bhp. If you go stand-alone EMS, 230, maybe 240 is possble on the stock ports.

The intake runners are relatively small, and become a restriction above 200 hp. Porting the intake manifold makes this much less of an issue.

N/a's need a free exhaust to make good power. This is VERY loud. Much louder than turbo's b/c there is nothing to break up the exhaust pulses, like the turbo has.

Talking

Tell me about it, I have an 88 GXL and I'm running Racing Beat headers, presilencer, and HKS Catback. I chose the HKS because it's the most 'silent' of the catbacks and the car's still pretty dang loud. In any case, I have more fun driving NA's than turbos for some strange reason. Mechanical advantage? I dunno... Anyways, good luck!

Peace,
AJ ^_^

200 RWHP sounds pretty good.
Like I said I can do everything but remove the engine... so no bridge port or peripheral port.
So all the bolt ons. I can port the intake. I will go with a Haltech.

I am in Korea. No one can rebuild a rotary here. But I know guys who can do everything else.

You mean that an open exhaust 13B NA is louder than my 13B-REW single turbo with an exhaust cut out. It's hard to imagine... but it makes sense.

Hmm... I forgot about nitrous.

If you get a vert, it will be slow no mater what you do - besides change the motor for a turbo motor. Trust me - mine is a dog.....

Actually, I thought Korea only got J-Spec RX7's, if so, all verts should be turbo over there.

I thought so too...

And if it IS an NA motor... 200 is a VERY optimistic expectation. More like 160 with "all the bolt-ons." MAYBE.
