Hehe, true enough.

On the other hand, it COULD also be good as new with the ATF treatment, depending on my luck.

And the guy is a bit TOO aware that it's an AE...

there is a T2 that has been sitting around here for the past five years. I have seen it run and everything. Its ubder a water tower at an old munitions plant(Nitro West Virginia haha funny) but the guy will not sell it for less than 3500 also. He said it was because he "knows" its rare. And his whole reasoning behind this is because it was black. He thinks its like the only black T2 in the world or somethig. I have found no way to deal with people like this. Its like the same deal with the AE86s they think that there rusted pieces of crap are worth like 5k. As long as the guy may think that the car is rare then he will keep the price up there.

If you want the 10AE for cheap your gonna have to work for it. If he thinks it is something rare print off the production numbers to show that they are about as rare as any other. Always be smarter know the car more than the owner, do your homework and know the car as if you have had t for 20 years. Try to start it before you buy it. And if it dosnt run. slash the price yourself. Nit pick it to death and if wants to sell it he will. Everybody say that people are firm on there price. Most people will crack if they see cash. Thats the big thing one hundred dollar bills speak more than words.

Sometimes if I go look at a car I might like I will take half the price in cash. FLash the cash and they know that you may be serious and then go down just to get ahold of that green bit o heaven.

But hey that is just around here.

Yeah, I know about the whole flashing cash thing... my dad taught me that. He's also a chronic low-baller

But the owner probably won't even be there when I'm looking at it...

I suppose it will probably need a new battery, possibly tires, and will probably have sun-beaten interior. And probably need new oil, fluids, plugs, filters, wires, etc. I can handle that much, at least. lol

Assuming it actually cranks...

Like I said nit pick it. If you can pick it up for nothing not running I would get it. If it has a scatch I ould be like yeah theres a big sracth here and thatll cost to get fixed and just look for things that are wrong with it to bring it down

If that dosnt work you could hold his dog hostage

WELL, I talked to him again, and this guy has decided the car that he probably hasn't even SEEN in three years is worth $3500, reguardless of whether it runs or not (likely not), and reguardless of what condition it's in (rough), because he "knows what these cars are worth" (which he clearly doesn't). So apparently it's a "collectors item" (which it isn't, to 90% of the of the car-buying population), and "it will be an antique in a few years" (which it won't, since the law is 25 years, not 20).

Bull. freaking. crap.

Non-negotiable my ***. It's worth $1000 in that condition. That's the end of negotiations if it was up to me. And I couldn't get him to talk about it in person either.
