how much for a (non-running?) 10th AE?

What is the typical selling price of a 10th AE?

I found one in someone's backyard and left a note asking whether they'd like to sell it, but I've got the feeling it probably doesn't run (lights are still popped up, hood is slightly open, there's an early Eclipse in the FRONT yard... which isn't exactly an upgrade)...

So how much would you guys pay for one with a good exterior, but doesn't run?

I don't know what the interior looks like, either...

I figure if I could get them to sell it to me cheap, and paid $1000 to rebuild it myself, I'd have a damn nice car on a budget (once again, I haven't had a close look at it).

I paid $100 for my non-running 10thAE. I paid more in registration fees than I paid for the car.

LOL...

I'm just assuming it doesn't run, but I still get the feeling it at least won't run WELL...

I would pay about $1000 for a fairly clean non-running 10th AE... $1500 if it was REALLY clean...

If it runs good and in decent shape than that seems reasonable.

yeah, but I don't have 3500 dollars

I was hoping to get an FC for $2000 or less... since that is what I will have.

I'll have 2000 in a week, but it would take me another two months to get 3500.

Although I could probably do 2500... just that my parents won't even consider 3500 (they're helping me... not buying it for me), since it's "so old."

Ok, new question:

What would you guys pay for a 10th AE that's been sitting for three years, never driven once the whole time? Supposedly it was running when last fired up.

hehehe...

This is the same guy, by the way... my ex-co-worker (I got fired :P) said he's seen it there for the past three years, never moved once, and I confirmed that with the owner...

But apparently it burns oil, and has a 40,000 mile reman in it...

I'll hopefully get a close look this weekend.

if its been sitting for 3 years most likely its not gonna run when first turned over, it may even be siezed. but if the car is in good shape and is running i wouldnt pay more then $2500, my 10th AE ran, drove, but wasnt a spectacular body and had a reman on it with some electrcal issues. i paid $2000 for it, 10thAEs were no special then any other turbo except it having extra badges and some special stuff not enough to bump the price up a couple grand IMO

Easier said then done.

I've seen like, two FC's in person locally. Ever.

believe me man, a non running FC is harder and more expensive to get running (in most cases) then it is to buy a working one, expecially if its been sitting for a while.

I know... but I haven't even looked at the car to determine how much I'd actually pay for it.

Or what's wrong with it, etc.

Still, it's too hard to find FC's for sale locally. Otherwise I'd have to drive for hours just to look at a car for sale.

Skeptic here. Why would someone leave a car with a good body and running engine sit for 3 years? It may have been running but just how well was it running? Out side in the summer heat for years will have reaked havoc on rubber and plastic (tires deformed?). Battery certainly dead. Tell owner you are in the price ballpark but tell him to get it running if he is serious about the 3.5k. If he won't or can't then make him the 1.5k offer. But be prepared for major $ in R & R.

Well, I'm not gonna talk about price with him until I see it. I plan on actively avoiding the subject

I don't know why he left it there for three years. I do know he bought it as a project originally... so that sort of speaks volumes.

I was thinking 1K if it's not running (and in good condition)... having cash in your hand (that they can see ) does a hell of a lot more than haggling ever did.

I figure I could try the ATF trick if it's seized...

But I won't go to much into this since there is a chance he could be reading... lol.

This is pretty much EXACTLY what I was going to say...

"Oh, yeah.. I've got a Turbo II.. . It runs... what? drive it? NOOoooO! why would I DRIVE it? "

There's something you don't know about the car, that you really probably should know before you drop ANY money on it..

Don't get me wrong here, I'm pretty skeptical myself. That's why I've got to see it before I consider handing over any money.

I know it at least has an oil leak... so that might be why he left it...

Now I know that it needs the ignition switch replaced, and that would cost probably $175 for parts (if buying new... I wonder if you can still get it done to the factory key), and it also means I can't try to crank it unless a switch was installed, or it was hot-wired...lol

If you hadn't of mentioned it being a 10th AE, then I would tell you to offer him 400$ cash in hand.
If he knows it's a "anniversary edition", that's why he wants so much for it. It's also probably why it's been sitting for so long - he can't find anyone stupid enough to pay that much.

9 times outta 10 if its been sitting for a while there was engine damage and the owner didnt have time/money/space to fix it so they left it and best bet is the inside of the engine looks like this
