how much is a motor worth

Trying to sell a running car but I don't think there's a big demand for not shiny FCs right now. So I'm considering just selling the engine and transmission and slowly the other parts. The engine/transmission is easier to move so I guess people from other states can come and pick them up?

How much is a motor with about ~50K on it?

tranny has 150K I think. So altogether it's worth a little less I guess?

You people are crazy if you pay over 500 for a used s4 n/a engine. I know of a few longblock engine's around me that are selling for 200 and noone has picked them up yet.

Honestly, if the car was clear title, and in okay condition, running and driving, the car would get $800. S4 N/A's are a dime a dozen, and you can get clean bodies with a bad motor for very cheap.

Title is definitely clear, car is definitely running and driving. So you're implying the car will sell more than if I part it out?

Depends really. Whats the color combo? How is the body? Interior?

I'd love to have another tornado silver car with burgundy interior.

Red exterior. Exterior has some rust spots. Interior has no damage, but has some coffee stains on the carpet. The for sale link with photos, VIN is in my signature. Here it is in case it doesn't work.

It could bring around $1000, maybe $1200 if the circumstances are right. It's not as "Not shiny" as you made it sound haha

You could part it out and make about as much, considering it's a GXL so it should be LSD, grey interior is hard to come by in good condition, and the engine looks clean, and depending on the compression numbers and such, could bring decent money.

. Thanks. Yeah. I'm getting the impression it's impossible to sell it as a whole... So I'm slowly absorbing the parting idea because I think people can come and pick stuff up, starting with the engine and they could have trusted friend/member of the forum to do the compression test.

You are actually closer than all the potential buyers I can find in the wanted ads.

Do you know a trusted forum member close to me who can act like a third party and backup the compression numbers so that I can tell people about the compression?

There should be quite a few. I don't keep up with the northerners haha. Most of the really trusted members are from alll over the place.

maybe you should post pictures of the car so we can better asses the situation.

also, region also affects price. i can buy an rx7 for 2k dollars down here and it will be mint, but up north a clean shitbox will be about 5k.

I'd give away my 86 n/a block with one blown apex for a couple 6 packs of decent beer. I just don't want to ship it and nobody local wants it. I already disassembled one motor and traded it in for cash at the scrap yard. I've got 2 n/a trannies laying around as well, I've offered them for free to people, but usually stuff comes up and they can't do the trip to come get it/them.

I can tell you that I have parted 3 S4s and still have lots of the parts available. I even offered to give them away for free +shipping a couple years ago and only had a few bites. I have a storage unit full of S4 parts that i can't bring myself to toss out.
If you were closer I would be interested in the whole thing for a second race car.

I would love to see the car becoming a race car... Any time you‘ll be going north for other business? And I'll be happy to offer you some $$ off for your extra trouble.
