Cars are a cheap hobby. Takeup windsurfing for a hobby and spend700-800 bucks for new sail each year (times at least three) and a new board every couple of years for 1500-2000 bucks. That does not count accessories

Im afraid to count it up, from looking at some of the reciepts Ive invested over 10k in parts alone, but Ive also sold alot of stuff that I replaced. Doing EVERYTHING myself has saved me an unbelieveable amount of money. It doesnt even run right now, I have to buy a microtech and a few other parts...

My 86 base - $4000 in mods & upkeep just this year alone. I bought it 5-6 years ago for $2600. Great car, wouldn't trade it for anything except maybe a Ferrari 328. ( Like I can afford one of those ).

Car - 2500
Wheels - 800
Toyo Proxes T1-S - 700 installed
JIC FLT-A2s - 1750
Springs and shocks - 700
Coilovers sold - -1000
Swaybars - 250
Rear camber adjustment - 120
DTSS eliminators - 60
Intake - 60
Header/Single cat - 500
HKS exhaust - 550
SAFCII - 350
Exedy Clutch - 250
RB Steel Flywheel - 350

Just with that crap listed - just $8000 or so

Now, on order are:
Supercharger kit - 3200
Fuel parts (4x720cc injectors, Walbro) - 550

So that puts it around $12000...I hate life. I need new tires soon, too.

Jeez, I forgot to add the seats, which were about 750 with the brackets and sliders...
Two strut braces as well. one that's a combination strut brace and engine torque dampener and a big Cusco 40mm one in the back, another 350 right there.

Some of us bought our cars way back when they were on dealer lots and came with the original factory warrantee. We skew the poll by having high original purchase prices and having done a ton of maintenance in the several hundred thousand miles we’ve gone in the past 15 or so years.

2000 - initial purchase
1400 - transmission/clutch/RMS replacement
900/yr - insurance
15/ea - a few oil changes

Not too bad so far. The transmission replacement was a killer though.
