How much does tranny need?

I have just finished installing my engine on my 86 GXL but need to know how much gear oil does the manual tranny need??
Also I know that the shifter needs oil but do I also use gear oil or is it a different lube??
Thanx

About 2 1/2 quarts, IIRC...

You can use the same stuff for the shifter housing...
