How much does it cost to reupholster your seats?

Well, I recently bought a 90 vert, and both of the seats are quite heavily damaged - all the seams on the right side of the driver's sear have bursted. The foam inside the seat falls out everytime I get into the car coz I am a big guy. So here's the question - does anyone know how much it costs (on average) to reupholster your seats in leather?

I don't want to get rid of my seats and replace them with recaro's coz they came with headrest speakers that are really, really nice.

Thanks!

I was quoted $750.00. That is for both seats. That is for black leather. I have seen his work and it is good.

I saw $500 for both in leather at www.leatherseats.com They say for 1 row of seats, either a row or 2 buckets. Think you can 2 colors & embroidering if you want to pay a little extra.

dayum!..for 50 bucks more i can get me a nice SPARCO seat!..And for 200 bucks i can get me a nice WET OKOLE seat cover!.. I'd rather go sports seats rather than a reapholstered one. Sometimes the finish product is not even that good and you will have to kill the person that did it. Not worthit.

anybody got any prices on repairing the cloth seats?

I went to Nopi Nationals this year and was happy to find that the Corbeau seat GTSII is almost exactly like the TII seat. I had all my friends sit in it and no one could tell a difference. If getting my cloth seat reupholstered is less than the GTSII I'll be happy.

i went to a shop and was priced over 500 for both seats for both leather, and cloth to do my vert seats. went with the wetokole seat covers untill i replaced the seats all together with a set of 100 dollar t2 seats. id say if you want nice go for aftermarket. if you just want no rips and dont mind sitting on someone elses stains, pick up a set of used seats out of a different comfort level car. those headrest speakers really arent ALL THAT!

they are ok.. i didnt like how they raised the driving position of where you sit. they reduced the headrooom and in a vert, headroom is prescious especially when you are 6'1" like me...

i like my t2 seats i have a lot! sept the side boulsters are worn down so the bar inside hits my leg... i manage..hehe

also i think the t2 seats look much cleaner in a vert because they dont have the big headrest..

that was kinda the problem i had also..

my 89 T2 seats are kinda torn up and etc..
so i decided to get rid of them and got myself a recaro spg..got it for $450 including a audi a4 bracket sold it for $60..so the seat costs me $400
..it's not a bad deal at all..
and if i have to chose to re condition my leather seat or getting a recaro...(with about the same money)
no doubt recaro all the way...

recaro has some pretty good quality... it's nice to have it when i drive on the canyons...
but if going for long trip...like 2 or 3 hours on the freeway...i promised u can't even feel ur legs after the drive

www.corbeau.com

I've been considering getting a Corbeau seat to replace my worn out drivers seat (nutz to the passenger)

Both the GTSII and A4 are $320 msrp, and while the GTSII looks like an almosts exact replacement for the stock seat the A4 looks pretty cool.

The other thing in regard to seat coverings to do is to get the original leather coverings from Mazda. Now before you tune out, hang on...
Check out www.mazdasurplus.com
He says his minimum order is $2000, but other people on this site have said he will sell for an additional $50 on top of the goods you buy. I think I understood that correctly.
For about $500 or so, you get all 4 seat surfaces in the original Mazda leather. It even comes in the Mazda bags with the serial numbers. You can slip them on yourself with hogring pliers at the ready or you can take them to an upholstery shop for installation and new foam.
The upholstery in black is on his page 8 or so of the RX7 stuff he's got. 12 pages total. I ordered gray from him and it is the factory stuff, beautiful gray leather for my 88 Convertible.
Consider this another alternative to the above referenced choices available. Cheapest is a set of sheepskins until you can have the seats done the way you like them.
