I will pull off a set of the 5's this weekend at the junkyard, I posted already that I could get them, but no interest. Starting bid-Pick and Pulls price, plus my commission, 80 bucks for a set, plus freight. No cracks, scratches, period. Now, anyone interested, or has the dog become too reasonable?

the s5 light are more of a heritage thing with the old rx-2 3 thing from the 70's if you look at the old cosmos and 2's 3's they all had round tails, and when mazda won the 24hrs at Le mans, they started the 89 year with the round tails to signify the history of all rotary powered cars by mazda.

s4 lights look way better when body colored. Hence they look best on a 10AE or a black car

 

its all just a matter of opinion. I have had both and liked both. I think that most people just use s5 tails so their car seems newer.

 

Drey, how in god's name did you tint those? That's sexxy! Don't tell me you went to Hobby Lobby and bought a can of spray paint!

 

nope. i bought limo tint glued it on and cut it to the right shapes, cost about 6 bux if the glue is laying around, wont fall off, but you can peel it off and theres no residue

 

All the s4 lights except mine that I have seen are either faded or cracked. I like the S5 tail look during the night and the s4 during the day. I dunno why.

IMO the 10AE tails are fugly but thats just me. I like the black surrond.

 

the Mazda junk yard/mazda repair shop i normally go to has one pair of s5 tail lights for sale, almost in perfect condition (in Kent, WA). THey also have red wing spoiler, that place have about 10 rx7 parts car. I bought most of my parts there. I personaly think the s5 tail lights look better than the s4.

 

i have a 'PERFECT" set of s4 tails that came off of mine.... no cracks...nuthin...makes me wish previous owner would have taken care of the engine bay like the outside of the car....DIRTY!

out of all the databased junkyards in the U.S.

only 3 have a good set of s5 rx-7 tail lights, and they all want more then $300 for them.

I just bout a pair of s5 tail lights for $125 (lights were $75 (ebay) + $30 shiping + $20 convience charge (my friend))

I like s5 tail lights a hell of alot more...

when i first got my vert I drove to the boonies in jerz for a set of s5 tails and s5 areo mirrros for my 88vert ... and paid 200 bones total and got the center plate piece too ... homeboy had madd rx7's & parts ...

(now b4 all u foo's start knockin me, i only found out LATER that the s5 tails dont fit on the vert w/o some McGuyver'in & yes i was TOTALLY bummed

and all those SQUARES who like the s4 lights and refer to the s5's as circles ... its not circles ... i like to think of them as afterburner lights ...

why? cuz after i burn u das all u get to see :

painting the black part of the S4 really can part it away from the 80s a bit and go into a 94 type of car or so. It also adds a bit of personality. tinting looks really good, probably my fave, kinda goes ahead of most lights anyway. Looks more like an older FD too (when I say that it means you can kinda look at both and see how one is an advancement of the other)
