How much do 720cc injectors affect emissions?

Just to add: Modifications can be made so long as they have passed the federal standards.
From Jet Website:
Are JET Performance Chips emissions legal?
Yes. All JET Performance Chips and most Performance Modules are 50 state emissions legal. They do not change the emissions at all from the stock tuning chip for any Federal or local emissions test. C.A.R.B. (California Air Resources Board) has issued Executive Order numbers D-234 through D-234-6 covering all JET Performance Power Chips, making JET Performance chips the most complete line of high-performance chips that can legally be sold, installed, and driven in the state of California. Because of C.A.R.B.'s very rigid rules concerning exhaust emissions, the Environmental Protection Agency ( E.P.A. ) accepts C.A.R.B. approval as evidence that an aftermarket part is clean and suitable for use in all other states.

Perhaps I am misunderstanding the meaning of OBD. I was under the impression that it was a specific hardware interface to facilitate diagnostics. But since I have never cared enough to look into it, I could be (and sounds like I probably am) wrong.

I'm back. PCM/OBDI all cars can do there own diagnostics relating to what the PCM is hooked up ele wise and a few other items. When it finds a falt the lite comes on as long as there is a falt. Thoes a lose wire can set a falt as long as there is no connection. The PCM is always checking it's cercuts. (yes I know it's spelled wrong) If the lite goes out a code is set in memery and can be reteved at a later time as long as it is befor 50 drive cycles in most cases, then the PCM just drops it. One of a few items that it can check is EGR , by cycleing the valve and watching the MAP or O2 it can determin if the EGR did. Yes it is a simple system compaired to OBDII.
OBDII is more complex with lost of rules, levels that go on and on. I will keep it simple for now. There are two levels, a hard code which means somg is going out the tail pipe and the lite is set and a soft code which means there is something wrong or pending problem which in time may be come a hard code and no lite is set. Becouse no smog is going out the tail pipe. So both OBDII and OBDI can do a self check store a code so as you when reteveing this code know what the PCM is trying te tell you, those a cores of action you my take. One more thing all cars going down the high way lets at 55 mph regarles of engine RPM will be in close loop, get your self a lab scope hook up to the O2 and watch and see what it does as you go through the gears , coruse and WOT. Thank you

What are the STOCK sizes for the injectors? Specifically I have an 86 NA. I was hoping to find the info in the FSM, but no luck. I have learned that my '86 uses the "Low Impedance" type injectors.

Now that I know what I have in the car, my next question arises. How woudl I know when I should be upgrading my injectors. As far as I can tell the size of the injectors is directly related to the desired engine output. Since I appear to have 460cc injectors when will this start to limit my performance?
Since I am sure this will come up:
RB Headers
High Flow Cat (or Presilencer ?? not sure)
Just ported my Intake.
K&N drop in ait filter.
NO ACV/EGR/AC/PS
Aux Ports working.

Cool, thanks for the info. I will probably never go anywhere near a bridgeport, I might someday do my own street porting, but that will not be any time soon.
Back to putting my newly ported intake back on

Back to the original poster's question: The California emissions test consists of only two steady-state points, 15 and 25 mph. The engine should not go above 3800 rpm in either of these points, therefore the secondary injectors will not come on, and will not cause you to fail the emissions portion of the test (unless they're leaking ). Of course there is also a visual inspection, but hopefully they aren't looking THAT closely!
Cheers!

I think the answer would apply for any injector.
It's not what injector size but what the engine is using and what is being left over.
If you put in 720's on a stock TII you will run rich meaning most likely you will not pass emissions.
If you get an SAFC you can tune the injectors down top the correct usage amount where the engine will create perfect power and have a greater chance of passing emissions.
The amount of mods and free flowing exhaust would probably have more of an affect than 720's tuned.
Also mention which type of inspection you went through when you passed.
Here in AZ your car is put on a Dyno with a sniffer.
They then idle.
Then drive at specific throttle moderation(ie: accel for a few seconds then decel then back on accel quickly)
It's hard to slip passed this type of test.
Although a good bottle or two of rubbing alcohol will usually make your car run close to ZERO emissions (and then blow your car up if left in for too long)

Isn't it strange that, even though everyone thinks CARB is a bunch of emissions *****, California has such an (relatively) easy emissions test to get around!?!?
