All S5 cars were heavy. The GTUs was just one of the lightest S5 FCs.

'86 2625
'87 2700 turbo 2850
'88 2655-2795 turbo/10th 2845/2900

'89 2800-2881 turbo 2987
'90 2800-2881 turbo 2987
'91 2787 turbo 2987

not too big of a difference. i wouldn't say "heavy" as a comparison.

I have a white GTUs, so does Rotary Racer. I believe white is the 2nd rarest color, rarer than red, but more common than black. There are appoximately ~1100 GTUi in existance, 100 of those being '90s, and rest being '89s.

For reference, a 1990 Canadian GX model with power steering removed bumped the scales at 1176 KG (2593 lbs) with no driver and 30 liters (8 gallons) of fuel, as weighed as total weight on corner scales.

Total weight saving mods were: removal of CSA, manual rack and pinion, no stereo, and a conical air filter. Car had stock exhaust and stock rims.

Wow, a single exhaust upgrade would have killed about 60+lbs and going with Convertible rims another 30lbs.

2500lbs is almost miata territory

Yeah, but thats no where near the Lotus Elise. I need to weigh my car sometime. It sounds like its got similar stuff to that canadian model, so it should be pretty light. Im sure this has been asked before, but where is a good place to get you're car weighed?

My 86 Mutt car with full stereo, two 10" subs and a full tank of gas came in at 2660 lbs.

My 89 GTUs in 100% stock form came in at 2695 lbs on the same scale.

You got that a little mixed up. They made more whites, then reds, blacks rounding out the rear being the rarest GTUs color.

When Roger Krause Racing in Castro Valley counterweighted my car the weight was 2965 with me and 3/4 tank of gas in the car and at that time I weighed roughly 230lbs (trying to loose weight) so that puts the car at 2735.

That's sweet, I knew you would eventually represent the true GTUs weight Kevin.
