How many times have you "broken" down?

Broken - car was undriveable

3 times to me in 3 weeks so far or every 300 miles.

Post what was the cause was.

1. Blew engine fuse
2. Intercooler piping popped off (no biggie)
3. TBA (think lower radiator hose)

never really borke down = undriveables as you say it always got home under it's own power, so here's the list
1 Blown tranny 1st gear exploded during a race, just started off in 2nd and drove home.
2 Broke fan/alternator belt on highway, made it to work, bosted it and got a new belt asap
3 Blown clutch, drove home in 1st gear

to hell with towtrucks and repair shops!

1) Blown coolant line under the UIM to the TB.
2) Locked in 5th gear - the main shaft nut backed out.
3) Chipped input gear (one year later, the result of the above main shaft nut failure.)

I haven't broken down yet. But i have had to tweak and wrench on the car several times but that was usually for performance adjustments....

well one time i parked it untill i could figure out the problem but it was still moveable under it's own power..does that count?

5 + years, 60,000 + miles in 3 different FC's.

Zero times "broken" down. I had a starter die once, poped the clutch drove home and put a good one in. I had a heater hose break once, drove home put a new one in.

Take care of your FC and it will take care of you. It has never left me stranded.

I've only broken down once. Blown transmission on the freeway.

I've been lucky though, they've had there share of problems (pinhole leak in the firewall coolant hose, a brake master cylinder that couldn't hold fluid for more then a couple days, battery issues, a screwed up driveshaft) but nothing besides the trans has left me stranded.

I have not yet broken down. Heh... not to say I have not had problems though. It has always been when I was at home or within reach of tools to quickly fix.
