How many times have you "broken" down?

Broken - car was undriveable

3 times to me in 3 weeks so far or every 300 miles.

Post what was the cause was.

1. Blew engine fuse
2. Intercooler piping popped off (no biggie)
3. TBA (think lower radiator hose)

cezonetheillest 04-14-04 01:05 AM

]v[akaveli 04-14-04 02:09 AM

once ... my master clutch cylinder died on me while driving, good thing it was about a mile before getting onto the freeway in a neighborhood where i had friends to help me get it towed back home :D

SOIA 04-14-04 02:33 AM

never really borke down = undriveables as you say it always got home under it's own power, so here's the list
1 Blown tranny 1st gear exploded during a race, just started off in 2nd and drove home.
2 Broke fan/alternator belt on highway, made it to work, bosted it and got a new belt asap
3 Blown clutch, drove home in 1st gear

to hell with towtrucks and repair shops!

SureShot 04-14-04 06:47 AM

1) Blown coolant line under the UIM to the TB.
2) Locked in 5th gear - the main shaft nut backed out.
3) Chipped input gear (one year later, the result of the above main shaft nut failure.)

Just the once, alt belt snapped taking the air pump and power steering belt with it. Lucky i had AA cover, mechanic came out within 20 mins and i was all ready to go again within 45 mins. :)

bingoboy 04-14-04 08:13 AM

haven't had anything that made the car undrivable yet, but i have had my share of lesser problems.

OverDriven 04-14-04 10:24 AM

Just one time when the water pump failed and the car started to overheat. Thats it though.

beefhole 04-14-04 01:09 PM

Never!! Mwuhaha!

RRTEC 04-14-04 01:24 PM

I haven't broken down yet. But i have had to tweak and wrench on the car several times but that was usually for performance adjustments....

well one time i parked it untill i could figure out the problem but it was still moveable under it's own power..does that count?

bigzman 04-14-04 01:36 PM

alternator and coolant seals, rebuilding motor

ckyguy 04-14-04 04:04 PM

few problems here and there, haven't broken down in the 6 months I've owned it though

kboneRX7 04-14-04 04:36 PM

recently like a week ago my clutch went OUT in my fc as i was cruzing around town at night, showed no sign of going out at all and i was stoped at railroad, when i go to put my car back in first..... the clutch pedal went all the way to the floor and stuck!@

Digi7ech 04-14-04 04:47 PM

Well let's see.

First time
Blew coolant hose going to firewall.
Then a few months later the engine blew ;(
Then 2 months later my other FC blows it's engine.

Not very fun

BDoty311 04-14-04 05:50 PM

blown waterpump/Blown coolant seal
Blown coolant seal
Intake tubing popped off twice aswell

13bpower 04-14-04 06:05 PM

5 + years, 60,000 + miles in 3 different FC's.

Zero times "broken" down. I had a starter die once, poped the clutch drove home and put a good one in. I had a heater hose break once, drove home put a new one in.

Take care of your FC and it will take care of you. It has never left me stranded.

only once so far. took my car out for a spin after i got it running...it wasnt inspected, registered, insured or anything. didnt take it on any big roads just some backroads that never see cars. so i go over this bridge make a right and all of a suden my car just dies...i go to start it again nothing just dead...pop the hood get out (its dark out btw) and start looking for a needle in a haystack. i jiggle the one battery terminal and she springs to life...needless to say the terminals were really shitty and needed replaced..not a big thing but i scared teh shit outa me.

cloead 04-15-04 01:11 AM

day i got my liscnse car died (clogged fuel injectors)... once it flooded super bad at the liscnse bureau.. and now my oil return line (from oil cooler to engine) split.. car is sitting at my friends house.

Ev|L-EX 04-15-04 01:58 AM

none yet, but lotsa smoke at start up =(

Kai 04-15-04 02:32 AM

I've only broken down once. Blown transmission on the freeway.

I've been lucky though, they've had there share of problems (pinhole leak in the firewall coolant hose, a brake master cylinder that couldn't hold fluid for more then a couple days, battery issues, a screwed up driveshaft) but nothing besides the trans has left me stranded.

AcidShock 04-15-04 02:40 AM

I have not yet broken down. Heh... not to say I have not had problems though. It has always been when I was at home or within reach of tools to quickly fix. :p:
