I'm just wondering because i don't want to go with aftermarket ricer "pshht pssht" BOVs. I know the stock one (forgot what the stock "bov" is called) will do but it will start leaking when pressure is raised?

how the hell is an aftermarket one a RICER bov, if anything you are doing a good thing because an aftermarket one will help save your turbo more than the plastic junk it came with stock

you my friend have a lot to learn, you know what happens to a stock turbo when does plastic ones fail?

search feature would be a good idea to find in fo on

turbo shock
bov recirculating
bov types
stock bov
diagrahms for bov

It's just my opinion for loud BOVs. I'm entitled to my own opinions aren't I? I am also aware of the fact that damages can be done if the BOV fails.

I guess i can get a recirculating BOV (if i ever need one). I'm just curious about the stock BOV and how much it can handle. My stock BOV is still recirculating back tot he intake.

In my experience, over 10 PSI they can get kind of sketchy. Actually leaks are not a big problem so much as the fact that they plumb back into the TID and can push the afm flapper shut when they open up at high boost...

I've never had a problem with the sound an aftermarket valve makes. Mine is pretty quiet most of the time too, only after 4k-5k rpm will it's scream.

bov are for gays and women, you dont need one. their one and only use is to prevent compressor surge. Sure your turbo will last longer but where's the fun in that.

i've got an older HKS bov. it sounds pretty nice, and isn't loud unless you really romp on it. I cant stand seeing all these audi's rolling around with a loud PPPSHHHHSSSSSSSH even while reversing... ghey.

but there is nothing wrong with a funtional bov. I've never even considered using the stocker on any of my 3 7's... it's plastic.

Ok...?

Well i guess I should get an aftermarket BOV just for assurance when i'm not running stock boost. I just don't want attention because we all know attention can be bad sometimes(theft, vandalism, etc etc especially in the City). Thanks, i'll start looking into different types of BOVs!

If you don't know what RFL, or ROFL mean, you shouldn't buy it.

I'd recommend an older HKS ssqv, because you can get inserts for them to change the sound, either make it incognito, or ridiculously loud. The vent is pretty quiet as long as it's around atmospheric pressures. Just don't mash it when the patrol is around.

Air Bypass Valve (ABV), more commonly known as a Compressor Bypass Valve (CBV), Antisurge Valve, or simply a Bypass Valve (BPV).

The TiAl BOV doesn't have a "ricer" sound. If you want a bypass valve, HKS makes a Standard and Racing bypass valve, and the GReddy Type R BOV can work as a bypass valve. The HKS SSQV BOV has an optional recirculation fitting available.

A BOV is an optional item, although it is usually a good idea to have one on the engine. While major or continuous surges can destroy the turbo, minor infrequent compressor surge isn't much of a problem. Also, the engine can get damaged if the BOV isn't set correctly and the valve remains open under vacuum, sucking dirty air into the engine.
