miles for a stock fuel pump?need to know I got 155K and have 1500miles to drive
Im just wondering, because I have to drive to FL (1500 miles) and my body has 155,000 miles on it. And I dont know when the pump was replaced, or if it ever has been. And the pump will last longer if you keep over a half tank of gas right? Because what I believe is that the pump is lubricated by actual gas. Anything you can put in your gas to treat the pump?

mm.. well, the pump in my 87 just went out last month (175k miles)... but, it had been sitting outside for ~2 months, and has been driven ~1.5 miles in the last 2 1/2 years... so I don't imagine that was "good" for it..
Besides maybe lower fuel pressure, I don't think you could predict fuel pump failure.. The good news is that they're real cheap used (especially n/a ones.. i replaced mine with a turbo for 50$ shipped, but I found a few n/a's for ~20-25$), and *REAL* easy to change. I don't think it's any more likely to go out on a 1500 mile trip than on 30 fifty-mile trips around town.
