Upgraded compressor section I'd imagine..

Got any pics/measurements of it?
Does it just have 8 large fins, no small ones??

hehe, well I don't mind the upgraded one as long as it works. I had a stock s4 originaly then I got an upgraded one that never spooled so I'm kinda leary but if it works, great.

and here is what a stock turbo for s4 looks like, notice how both the "upgraded" ones have thinned intake walls compared to the stock one.

It's upgraded. It looks like the intake housing has been machined wider to accept the fins.

I would try and figure out from the previous owner what type of upgrade it was.

Also you might need to upgrade your fuel to go with this turbo. 720's secondaries and a SAFC.

Thats an upgraded turbo aswell, theres probably heaps of wheels you can machine out the stock compressor to take.

no idea as to why it wouldn't spool, the bearings look ok as the ends of the fins aren't bent up along the compressor housing edge or anything. Must be something wrong with it on the exhaust side.

Or some other prob.. Intake leak? who knows.. could be anything.

here's a pic of a stock s4 turbo compressor housing beside a to4B compressor housing.. you can see the diffrence in fins.. the compressor wheel on the to4 is a super "V" trim...

BTW what is that hole on the compressor outlet on the stocker? Mine is empty like that and I have no idea where it's supposed to go.

I'm guessing it will cause a boost/vac leak.

Sorry for the semi hijack.

Dude that is a pretty important nipple!

It's the hose for the wastegate actuator! If you don't have that hooked up to your wastegate you will overboost to buggery... like hello 20psi.

So, in short, you should really connect it up.

Unless you have your wastegate actuator getting its signal from elsewhere for some reason? but that is the 'best' spot for it.

no it spins fine and no shaft play just for some reason won't spool up in my car. If I have the same problem with the new turbo its got to be something else but I think that its the turbo. I changed all gaskets vac hoses, etc... it still won't boost.
