How to make door speakers work?

Hey, how do I make the door speakers work again after I get an aftermarket deck? I know there is an amp or something but what do I do to make the door speakers work again?

Are you sure that you have a amp? If you do you can run new wires to the ouput wire form the amp and tag them there. Or you can get one of these(link below) and you can run the output of the radio throught this to the input of the amp. (so you can still use your amp.

The door speakers are fed by an amp located above the front passenger's speaker. You can either bypass the amp or run new wires from the head unit to the speaker.

If you want to bypass the amp, look at the wiring diagrams on page T-92 of the FSM Body Electrical System chapter. Cut all the wires off the plugs and connect the input wires to the output wire, carefully matching speaker side and polarity.

Running new wires is quicker and easier...

is the stock amp good enough to keep or would it just be better to ditch it and run speaker wire from the head unit straight to the speakers

You will have to run it through the rubber sleeve. Any other way, you run the risk of shorting the speaker.

As far as keeping the factory amp. I wouldent keep it. It cant be much better than todays headunit.

It's not as hard as it looks. It's pretty fiddly and you have to be patient, but the results are worth it.

Car stereo has come along way since the stock ones were made. Most modern head units put out more power than the stock amps, so there's absolutely no point in keeping them.
