how loud will a BORLA CATBACK be with no cats?
I have a Bonez superflow system mated to a Borla catback.
thinking of freeing up a little bit by completely removing the cat all together and either using straight pipe or maybe another bullet muffler like the one that is on the superflow system already.
question is do I need to add another muffler/silencer or can I jsut replace the cat with straight pipe AND NOT BE TOO LOUD?
I dont want it loud and metallic sounding .
I had replaced the cat on my automatic with a straight pipe and it improved the response really well considering it now has factory catback exhaust.
So this made me want to remove the cat on my 5spd too. I jsut dont want it to sound like crap or ricey.
sound clips welcomed.
I dont have emmisions testing here yet.
thanks

In my experience, cats dont quiet the system down all that much :O Just keep the old pipe and swap it back on if you dont like the sound.
Using another muffler will quiet it down a lot. In fact, when I swap off my cat for the RB presilencer, the sound gets much, much louder.
(RB presilencer rulessss )

You say cats dont quiet it down much...... but then you say your RB silencer is much much louder than your cat, is that right? ??????
so a RB presilencer would be louder than with the cat but not as loud as with a straight pipe.

get the bonez straight pipe, it has a resonator that quiets the exhaust down a bit. i really did not hear too much of a difference between no cat and the high flow cat i had installed with my mufflers. in fact the exhaust did not drone as much without the cat on.

will you be running a header? i like the sound of mine with a RB header and presilencer. the addition of a header will make it a bit louder for you. a friend of mine has the borla with an RB cat replacement pipe and presilencer and it sounds fairly similar, except his is quieter. with no cat, and the original manifold i would imagine it shouldn't be too loud.
