how long would an s5 NA trans last in this situation?

i am about to buy a nice S5 NA that has a blown engine and my friend and i were planning on doing the turboII swap into this NA. the swap would include the drivetrain of course, but what if it didnt? my plan was to run about 12-13 psi on the stock turbo/TMIC with some 720cc secondaries and a fuel controller to get me to about 210-220 hp at the wheels.
however, i may have a problem finding a nice complete low mileage TurboII drivetrain in time.
my question is how long would the NA tranny last if i bolted up this jspec S5 13bt to it running about 200 torque? i will have an extra NA trans so why not use if it i wont have the turboII drivetrain in time?

With easy launches, 205 tires, careful shifting & a little luck - 200000 mi.
A few hard launches with 225's or 245's and bang goes the input gear.

I would be more worried about the NA clutch not being able to hold the turbo torque. Like SureShot said, how long it lasts depends on how you drive it.

clutch usually does go out first but i would think not to much longer after that the tranny would go...Its like an old couple when one dies the other dies not to long afterwards...sad isnt it.

the trani will last if you drive nice, but i am 100% sure
the clutch will not hold that hp, even with easy launches.
why do i know,,, i put a TII in my vert I am using the
stock trani etc and with 5 psi of boost, nice launch
wot, hit 2nd gear and it will not hold.
I have to shift, make sure the clutch has grabbed
then get back on the power, if there is even a small
amount of rpm that the clutch has to pull down it will
slip. I am going to try a better clutch or go to a tII trani
and keep running the non turbo rear end.

Rotorific: I've had that. I had a relatively crappy tranny. It got suck in gear once, I had to launch using 3rd. Toasted the clutch. (this was a chevette, dinky clutch + no torque) Replaced the clutch, 2 weeks later, 1500 miles from home, the tranny goes. Kinda sucked

heh. I'm basically just using the N/A tranny until it dies, then goes a TII with a custom driveshaft to the stock rear end (although eventually a Kaaz will be in there, too. **** Five Lug.

I'll have more torque than you, though.

don't drag race it a lot and it'll take the power just fine. btw, 12-13psi and 720 secondaries should net you more than 210 rwhp

May just be causing your self more work in the end. Because if you know the transmission is going to blow your going to have do the work on it. Crawl under there and wrench.

So, more work now for less work latter

well, i'd be puting a new clutch in there.
this sounds ok then. i really would like to have the long gears from my S5 NA, so i may just use my stock tranny til it blows (i'll have to turn up the boost a bit to keep up with my buddies' turbo miatas and typeR's around here)
but maybe the trans could take 250 whp in the highway runs since i wouldnt be launching it and i'd already be rolling pretty fast? (we usually race 4 wide from about a 45-50 roll)
you guys say that the trans will holdup with 200 tq, what about 250hp at the wheels and a heavier clutch?

You going to use the A/T drive shaft and have it not fit in ALL the way or go with a custom drive shaft?

The A/T (automatic) driveline will fit with a TII trans and n/a rear end, or a custom one will have to be made. You cant use your n/a drive line in between the TII trans and n/a rear end.

13BT, NA TRANS, NA DRIVELINE.
thats why im wondering how long the NA trans will last with all the 13bt power going through it.

if i had a tii trans, i wouldnt have even made this thread.
