Well, with a 150K you're getting up there with a turbo rotary, but by no means too much. So much depends on how the car was maintained or modded. It could still run a long time.

If you do a search you'll find lots of info about longevity and what to look for when buying a TII!

And yes, engine/turbo rebuilds are not cheap!!! Were talking thousands of $$$$....

it looks like this car has been taken good care of. a friend of mine told me i should be able to put about 300k on it before it dies. hopefully it does, because i dont have big coin right now for a rebuild.

Look on the spark plug side of the motor where the housings are all together. Look for signs of gooo or oil dripping from between the housings. Mild ammounts of Gooy stuff is OK but oil could mean the oil seals are going. The Goo starts getting pressed out of the side of the motor, and eventually will lead to oil leakage.

BTW, the car will run fine with any of these things, it may just need oil every once in a while.

You can check the turbo by checking shaft play. all you gotta do is take the airbox and rubber pieces off. Takes me about 5-10 minutes to get down there. I'd say any play more than .5mm is a little much. Saab guy told me this hope it helps!

well, don't get me wrong. i wish you nothing but the best, BUUUUUT ... i have never heard about a T2 (or any other engine for that matter, rotary or piston) lasting for 300K miles before their first rebuild.

is it possible??? i suppose anything is "possible" ... but if i were you, i wouldn't get my hopes up too much.

I've heard of rotary's lasting till 300k! Just a 12A, now I've seen a 13b N/A last to about 250k. So yeah it can/has happened. I've never really heard of a TII lasting that long. And there are a couple of piston's that I have seen with my own eyes that had about 300 K miles, it was a toyota pick-up, one of the old 4X4's from like the mid to late 80's. It ran great until he rolled it like 6 times then drove it home and retired it!

my moms 94 grand marqui has 245k and the only thing replace was the tranny at 200k, it still runs strong. just goes to show if you maintain a car properly it might as well last forever...................this doesn't mean shifting at the redline all the time....................

well ... i guess now i've heard of it. so i stand corrected.

i still wouldn't put money on a T2 lasting that long, but at least it puts back some of the air i deflated from ninjaboy's balloon, right?

sorry ninjaboy ... i'm just a student of defeatism, but i'm trying to reform
