How is life with gutted or deleted cat.
well today I got some time on a exhaust analyzer. Been working on passing smog. grrr. anyways at idle when we were able to lean out the mixture to passing or better then passing levels all smells went away. Seriously. Right now at idle the FC I'm working on is putting out about 1600 ppm unburned hydro carbons and 5% CO. I could probably take a lighter to the exhaust pipes and have some nice torches going at that concentration. Anyways for you guys that dont' have smog tests and run stinky cars, especially you guys with the high flowing injectors, I woudl say get on a dyno and get an exhaust analyzer in the tail pipe. I would venture to geuss you could see not only improved performance through out the rpms but also better mileage if you can get the HC count down into the 200 ppm or less range and the CO% down to about 1% or less. This means that you are actually combusting most the fuel you are throwing into the engine which is very good for the engine and a little easier on the wallet. Plus most of the smell you have right now anyways is unburned hydro carbons which is pretty much just hot gas.
