WA How to ID short shifter S4 TII

Is there a way to tell with out pulling the shifter? It's silver/chrome and a RX7 guy I just got some parts from said it feels like a short shifter and that all of his OEM shifters are black. If I gotta pull it, I will. I also would like to look into rebuilding it with new bushings and springs if I can.

Thanks
Monkey

Bushings available here. Replacing them fixes the slop while the shifter is in gear. http://www.mazdatrix.com/g4.htm
All the stock shifters I've seen were chrome. Look at the short shifter kit on the top of the page I linked and note the metal spacer that is sandwiched between the shifter and transmission. Look to see if yours has that spacer.

The S4's are chrome, S5's are black.

But trust me, there is a HUGE difference in a stock shifter and a short shifter. The shifter will move a pretty small amount with a short shifter.
