This is how I disassembled an FC RX-7 transmission for scrap

I took a load of steel and aluminum in for scrap today. I had an old FC RX-7 transmission in my barn (condition unknown and for sale on the RX-7 forum for a long time) that I took with me. I asked the attendant about the transmission. It has an aluminum case and I wanted to get something for it. The guy just told me to take it out back with my load of steel. I was not content with that answer so I took it home to disassemble it. There were a lot of bolts and since I was mildly disgruntled I "disassembled" it:

At least I got some entertainment out of it.

fun but more work that it's worth. even when they accept rotor housings for scrap i was getting about a buck for each of them... you'll pay more than that in gas for the round trip.

I am taking a chassis in to scrap later in the week. I will see how much my effort was worth.

2nd pic looks good, i don't see anything wrong visibly. of course i wouldn't recommend this approach at internal inspection to anyone.

i like it! one of the most fun things i've ever done with a car is take one apart with a pickaxe, it was really satisfying, the car just peels apart

The aluminum on this thing broke apart like it was ceramic. Sledge o matic certainly helps though.

I got $18.55 for the transmission pieces. Oh well, it was just sitting in the barn and I don't have an fc anymore.

You had it for sale here on RX7 Club... How much were you trying to sell it for? I would think you could have gotten more than $18.55 for it.
