I can tell ya that the exhaust manifold-to-downpipe connection must hit over 500 at times, because it turns red RTV to dust, and that stuff is supposed to remain viable to 500*F...

lol...
try like 3-4 times hotter than that. Basicaly, nothing you can paint the manifold with won't burn off. I've gotten the stock manifold glowing bright ornage quite a few times during a drift and autox run, and thats with no cats, straight to a pretty open mufler.
Its nothign to see 1700*F on a rotary... by nothing, I mean common. I doub't you'll find any paint that can withstand that.
However:
If you just want to paint it to keep it from rusting, just use some high-temp brake paint. Yes... it will burn off in like an hour, but it will leave burnt paint residue that will keep the pipes protected from rust. Even the mufler I had painted high temp (1500*F) paint had blackened in about 3 months, and that was to the far back of the car.
Rotaries run hot EGTs, far far far hotter than postin engines due. Its because the combustion/exaust stroke is so close-- almost inside the exhaust ports/manifold.
