I'm getting my engine built with the cryo treatment to the seals and rotor housing but I don't plan on going over 12psi. The reason is because I want the engine to last, I dont want to worry about buying another $3800 engine. I also have a spearco intercooler, Banzai racing T.I.D. Fcon&Gcc. I just want a fast street driven car. Not some ticking timebomb ready to blow. What are you guys running as far as fuel upgrades, I hear about all this boost what about fuel?
I Dunno theses guys are running crazy boost. MY boost not going up until I get fuel mods. And I really dont wanna. Cut the engine life even more.
Stock + more boost= bad news for you engine.
And your fuel system. Keeping at 8psi is good enough for me. Plus there are other mods you can get to get some more power. uping the boost is free, though in the end buying a new engine will get ya. But damn you guys must be in some fast TII then, I havent seen not one round here.

It seems that a lot of ppl think hitting high levels of boost on stock TII's is cool or somthing. The boost level of any turboed car should be determined by the type of tubo it has and what mods the engine has. A stock Rx7 with basic mods like FCD, open exaust, upgraded fuel pump and STOCK turbo should not go over id say 12psi of boost without the proper mods. Your just completly killing your engine and turbo. Now if you have the money to buy a new engine every few months and could give 2 ***** then fine go ahead boost all you want. All im saying is to boost intelligently and do the proper mods for that particular boost level. Its the best way.
My car boosts to no more than 10psi on a stock s5 turbo. I want to be hitting 18psi in the fufture so im going to end up with a hybrid turbo and mod setup for that application.

rylassassin i am putting a garrett gt17 on my stock 86 sport. it has a .63 compressor, and 2" inlet and outlet. how much boost do you think i can run with the stock fuel system? its a fresh engine with a streetport, and tb mod.

I had a jdm turboII engine. it was mildly ported. I had a 62-1 turbo 4 850's and an extra injector that I ghetto rigged on there. O yea I was running a e6k. I was running 10lbs daily. Trust me that was enough for me.
I had a 60-1 but when I decided to buy a 13bre engine I bought a 62. The haltech was tuned using the 60-1 so I said *** it I saved the program and went and upped the bars a lil for more boost and raised the redline. I had it so that instead of cuttin the fuel it riched it out so the car would pretty much stop reving as soon as it hit the saturated rev limit. well that day I took it went through first shifted at 3500 then second at like 4 and when I hit third I punched it. DAMN!!I never felt anything more beautiful in my life. I had to fight to keep the car on the road well the boost hit like 15lbs and right before 9200 the fun was all over... I was fighting for the car to stay on and it didnt want to rev past 3 plus it was shakin like a mother *****. There you go lesson for today kids... 15lbs on a 62-1 is alot of F*&king
fun. 13bre BP coming soon keep on a look out.

20psi with a suitable turbo and cleranced engine is a "walk in the park" if all tuning parameters are acceptable.
Stock turbos and std engines, I would tend to think the same as some of the other replies, but I have one mate who we did a std rebuilt S4 2nd gen block with big turbo and it daily runs 20psi (430+bhp@engine), and has done for 3+ years.
I spiked to 1bar on a stock s4 turbo w/ stock fuel system. The wastegate line popped off while I was passing someone in 3rd gear on the highway. I thought I broke the engine, but it was just a vac leak. Did compression test afterwords and had 90s all around.
my boost creeped up to .80mmHG... I dunno what that converts into but I can tell you it is waaaay above the 10psi i should be running. I have stock turbo and injectors. I was scared shitless...I have my AVC-R on the "OOF" position until I get injectors, and even then I hit almost 10psi(.63mmHG).
everyone her eis going to cry BS but here goes:
I have an uncontrolled stock/t04e hybrid turbo, ported wastegate, stock fuel system, stock tmic, and stock ecu. (dont worry i have a walbro, npr fmic, and boost controller shipping or waiting for install)
When driving hard and at high rpms in say 4th (high rpms being about 5k) i've seen spikes on throttle release of about 15psi.
On my way to delaware going down the turnpike for the recent maryland meet i left my car in 4th gear and made it pretty close to redline checked my boost gauge and i was at 17psi, i let off immediately and basically rolled my car along slowly for a while hoping nothing popped.
My boost is completely uncontrolled (just got my MBC in the mail) so i don't redline anything above 2nd gear because the boost goes way up, had the car for about 2 months and have yet to redline 3rd or 4th...you can udnerstand my frustrations im sure.
i await your bs flags on my motor not popping, but just ask some guys who rode in my car at delaware, my boost just rises straight up although i try to shift at about 4500 when driving fast cause the boost is just going over 10psi at that point, but on normal driving i try to not let the secondaries kick in for gas mileage so i stay rather low in the rpm band.
