How having a busted sunroof bracket can save making a stupid decision, funny story

Today I went to startup my car because it hasnt been started up in like 5 days and I'm leaving today for about a week to go somewhere for the week of christmas.

So I go unlock my passenger door to open my driver side door , it wont open from the outside (havent looked into how to fix it yet).

I then open my driver side door from the inside (on the passenger side) and then go out of the car and enter the driver side and start the car up and let it warm up.

While the car is running I go ahead and lock the passenger side while I'm in the drivers seat.

The car finally gets warmed up and can idle on its own (dont ask), then I go outside and shut my driver side door...but then I realize after shutting the door that I now locked myself out of my car, even if though the driver side is unlocked it still wont open from the outside...so I'm like f*** what the hell was I thinking...I cant just let the car run until it runs out of gas with the keys in the ignition, and I dont want to smash the window out just to unlock the car if I dont have to.

I then think of how my bracket on my sunroof is broken on one side and I can lift the sunroof up pretty much to its full extension on that side (driver side luckily), so I push the sunroof up and push a metal rod all the way to the passenger side lock and push it up to unlock the door

Yahoo! I didnt have to break any window to get back in the car and it only maybe bent my sunroof a little bit and left a few scratches, but who would of thought me never fixing my busted sunroof or that even having a busted sunroof could of been such a lifesaver, I'm sure glad it was busted and happened to be busted on the side to make it easier to unlock the door that was locked...and who would of thought my driver side door would of broken too, just all big lucky ironic coincidence I guess...or maybe my Rx7 just really loves me lol.

keep a spare key in side the house and in your wallet. i have been doing that since i got that car (6 months) and it has saved me alot. the other day i locked my keys in my car and was so mad. but i realized i had one in my wallet and my day had gotten better. so keep that in mind. it works!

use a piece of cardboard. put it in between the sill and the glass, slide it down to where the locking mechanism is, and slide down till it unlocks. worked on mine in front of me, with my gf standing right there dumbfounded (my buddy used HER binder). thank god for high school girls (im only a freshman in college, no pms about that please)

peace
