how goods the standard wastegate?

im havin problems with boost on a s5 hiflow turbo.it boost up to 13psi/3500rpm
then 12psi /4500 but up to 13psi at 5500 rpm and then fades awat to 11.5psi at7500rpm. the workshop it goes to reckon the wastegates too small and it needs an external. Has anyone got any ideas,,,,,,

That logic doesn't make any sense.
If the WG is too small, it'll be creeping on you.

Get an EBC.
It's normally for the stock turbo to boost fade on you like that.

at the moment im using a turbo smart boost controller.... its looks like a small tap.
The workshop also reckon theres 2 much back pressure and this is stoppin the motor makin more power.ive got a 3 inch drop pipe on it as well

hey just wondering if anyone has ever put like a ten pound spring in there instead of usuing the stock 5.5 pound one???? Is this possible?

The stock turbo is to small. What your seeing is normal. although if you put in an Elctronic Boost Controller, than it might improve some.

The stock wastegate actuator is sealed.
I've never heard of someone opening it up and replacing the spring and then getting it to work again.

Theoreticaly, it'll work, but getting it to work after opening it up is the hard part.

you probably could change the spring ,but the flow rate of the wastegate is still restrictive.has anyone out there run the standard/ported wastegate on a 300rwhp car and been able to control boost?
