How Good Is The Fc???
17 fb's and 2 fc's later i say buy a miata.if you don't do your own work and have others to support you forget it . you better have a deep pocketbook if your not doin your own work or you better find one someone has done it . it's all the small **** that will kill you look my radio surround is broke 70.00 type crap.
if you really want a fc buy one from a forum member or take someone that knows 7's well with you .

^Miata is seriously a good choice if you want grip handling.
My FC is turbo/coilovers/bushings/large tires and I was handling porsche's and new shelby mustangs on the track but a ******* miata with just suspension was giving me problems!
Stock, FC's are decent
Once you update the suspension to coilovers and replace all the bushings and get some beefy tires, It gets really fun.

FC all the way..
Heres how it will go down too.. You'll buy it.. Love it.. Own it for about 24 hours.. Then it will own you..
Mine has owned me for 3 1/2 years.. and has eaten a ton of time and money.. But damn its worth every hour and every penny..

My pops owns a 01 miata......f-ing love his car. Deff a great daily driver. But when it comes to power and exhaust noise....the 7 wins hands down. dont get me wrong rx-7s do handle great but ive put my dads miata to the test and it is much better imo. - Nick
Agreed!
I agree.... I drive a 7, but its the car that actually OWNS me.
I'll throw my two cents in. I've owned two RX7's in my life so far. The first one was a FB, and it literally fell apart before I got rid of it. The second was a FC S5, and I f-ing loved that car! Then I crashed the piece of sh-it and stepped away (Just kidding about the POS part). Now I am about to buy another one. I wrecked the FC about 5 years ago, and I miss having an RX-7 so damn much. Great car, real sporty, just fun to drive whether your putting the car through it's paces or if your driving miss daisy.
fc is better investment than similar cars imo, like nissan s13/s14 and older Z cars... With the drift scene explosion , alot more thefts have grown onto the nissan community imo. A clean FC is pretty rare to see on the streets imo.
Aftermarket isnt as big as nissans nor toyota or hondas.. but its there.. I think suspension aftermarket kind of lacks outside of springs/shocks/coilovers.. Not much options for parts. Some things you see and wish they made for these cars, but to consider that only a handful of owners would actually purchase them, and you can see why some parts wouldnt be made. Theres not much demand on them. But provided there isnt too many suspension parts in the car in the first place , sometimes not needed.
I do think the car has some flaws, or areas that could have been designed different.. i dislike the rear suspension layout. But the car has some road racing history behind them. albet the race cars however, where alot different compared to the production chassis.

With any RX7, i think its best to be mechanically familiar with how things work and to do your own repairs, otherwise the simplest adjustments would cost a $$$$$ at a shop. When i run into a problem, i call one of my rx7 buddies up for help or post on this forum.

I'm going to have to say if you don't have a rotary shop locally that you can run to and say "look, i f*cked this up, what do I do?", don't get the car. As Hypertek said, these cars really are pretty rare so finding aftermarket parts is kind of hard. If you want something truely aftermarket to do what you want, you should probably make it yourself anyway.
I love my FC and would probably kill the other person (if their not dead already) if I were ever to get in a accident with it. For not having a lot of the standard safety features of cars today, these cars are actually made very well. Theirs several people on this forum not to mention countless others that have been in head-ons, roll-overs, or t-boned and have walked away from the incident.
I consider the FC to be the lesser 240 from Mazda. Their not as popular, super mod-able, and whole sh*t loads of fun. I've enjoyed having this car since I got it. From day 1 with stock tires, stock suspension, and stock exhaust playing with my friends Hondas, to today playing with mustangs.
Honestly, if you get this car, I can guarantee you'll have fun driving it.

The FC is a great car if you can meet these requirements
1: Willing to work on your car whenever something goes wrong.
2: if you are not willing to work on your car, but there is a shop nearby and you got the cash to spare
3: if you bought it in mint condition and are willing to take care of it.
From my experience the FC doesn't require any more maintenance than other cars of the same age, however, it does require that you actually do all the routine maintenance. Its not like say oh a civic that you can beat the crap out of and not take care of and it would still run. Still in the end its a fantastic car. I wouldn't own any other car even if I had more money to spend... i'd probably spend the extra money on parts XD
