How To:Fuel Cut Switch On A S5 N/A

Ok, this is a really easy fix to those of you who battle with leaky injectors and unflooding your ride every day!! Takes about 20 minutes, and is a very easy process.

Tools Needed:
-Phillips Head Screwdriver
-Wire Cutters
-Wire Strippers
-14 Gauge wire
-Switch
--A side note:I used a 2 prong switch, but you can use a 3 prong, if you would like your switch to light up

The basic idea is to wire a switch in relay to the wires under the dash. Remember this, and that the circuit must be closed for the car to operate, and this is a very simple preocess.

Step 1:
Remove the air vent under the steering wheel. It is held on by 2 phillips head screws. This is not totally necessary, but it gives you a better view of the wiring.

Step2:
Find the wiring clip under the steering column that has 5 wires going into it. It will have a large, lemon colored connector. Cut the BLACK WIRE WITH A WHITE STRIPE. Using the wire strippers, strip both ends of the severed wire about 1 inch. It is a 18g wire.

Step 3:
Turn the key on. If the car does not fire up, congratulations! You didn't cut the wrong wire!! It will sputter, then die.

Step 4:
This one I leave up to you. Decide where to install the switch. I installed mine in the center console, next to the "Security" light for the stock alarm. It needs to be easy to reach, like mine, but mine is in harms way. If you install the switch here, make sure it is a toggle switch, with a flip top cover, so you don't accidetally hit it!!

Step 5:
Measure 2 lengths of 14g wire to connect to under the switch, one to each prong, and to the exposed ends under the dash, one wire to each wire. Connect the wires to the switch, then those wires to the black and white wires under the dash. It is very easy to understand when you are donig it. Replace any parts ypu removed to install the switch, and reinstall the vent for under the dash. Make sure and put those tools away!!

Step 6: How to use it!
When you are ready to shut the car off, simply make sure the parking brake is engaged, and simply flip the switch to off. LEt the car die, then turn the key off. To start it up again, flip the switch, then turn the key quickly. It should start up with few snags. Good luck, and have fun!!

Ahh you know if you hit full throttle and crank the car, it works as a fuel cut on the 91 car right....

To those of you that do this mod with a lighted switch in the center console:

the light is bright at night. It doesn't bother me so much, but it might bother some people. Just a forewarning. I haven't had a starting problem since I put it in .

Just to be clear, it's not a fix, it's a band-aid solution until you can get the real problem fixed.
