How to fix a Klunky tranny in my tII
My tranny is really krunchy and a bitch to get into 2nd geat and seems to take more effort than necessary to get in to all gears. I've had the car for about 8 months now. The pressure plate was wacked out when i got it and i thought that was why it was shifting funny. Now after changing the entire clutch and flywheel with an act unit it's still clunky and really stiff. The rear end is also funny and makes noise while the car moves regardless of what gear its in. Will new fluids fix this? I havent changed the trany fluid or gear oil. Should i just get a whole new tranny? Any info would be helfpfull. thanks

Maybe get new shifter bushings? Im not sure exactly what you mean by"krunchy" but if you mean the shifter feels sloppy then definitely go for some new shifter bushings. But then again that wouldnt be the reason for noises coming from the rear end so

With the tranny, it could be the synchro's. We have the same issue with downshifting into 2nd from 3rd. We bought a rebuild kit from Ernst at RX7World.com and are planning on getting ESP (in Sterling, MA) to do the tranny rebuild. The kit was like $280ish. The rear end sounds could be ominous, but checking fluids is the place to start.
