I suppose that by "open wastegate" they actually mean "closed wastegate", because an open wastegate will prevent turbo from building ANY boost.

However with a closed wastegate, you can built up as much pressure as your turbo will allow.....or until something explodes NOT clever....

I'm not scard to blow up my stock motor! it's been running so good for the last few months @ 12psi with a closed WG! My boost controller opened all the way would only build 9psi. It's not like my engine is super dope like souls! But i do have a spare 13BT i the garage. My running 100 octain avation gas also

the fastest I've gone on a Bone stock 88 T2 on street tires was 14.68. Thats No mods at all.

If you remove the wastegate hose, say good bye to your engine.

The only ways your not gonna build a ton of boost with your wastegate locked is if you have a serious pressure leak where the turbo meets the manifold, or where the manifold meets the engine. Or if you have a cracked exhaust housing. or if your engine is on the way out and is not producing enough exhaust pressure to push the turbo to produce more than that amount of boost. those are the ONLY ways. With a locked wastegate there is no way to regulate the boost, and if you say your getting a steady 12 psi, it has to to be bleeding off the exhaust gasses somewhere.

do you understand how a Turbocharger works?
