How EXACTLY do you lean out the car?
I have an 88 GXL, and I posted my aircare resaults a while back, and you guys said that it was runnin too rich. Can someone please tell me exactly where this resistor is that you have to turn the *** on to lean out the car? Maybe some pictures? I know that the engin in my car has been replaced, so it might not be exactly where yuo guys are tellin me it is, thats why a picture might help. Maybe an exact description of the thing? The name for it even?
thanks in advance guys.

Its called the variable resistor. Its located near the right front strut tower. Its black. Smaller than a bread box. Oval in shape. Has a single screw in the tower that rises from the center of the oval shape. Has a single electrical plug on the bottom. The screw makes the IDLE mixture richer by turning the screw clockwise. LEAN anti-clockwise. The screw has only about one full turn to it. Do not force it against its stops. Hey, go to a post by FINGERS on this site. I gave him a url that you could go to that tells how to adjust the variable resistor. Only good for IDLE MIXTURE. Will not effect any other position of your foot.

https://www.rx7club.com/forum/showth...threadid=74531 Try that post and down near the bottom I attached some jpg of the manual that tells how to set the idle and variable resistor. I'd also say that you NEED to see if the acv that is located on the right side of the engine, is dumping air overboard when at idle. The car should not do this at idle. Could very well be why you failed emissions. Should be a black hose of approx one inch dia at the bottom of the acv pointing outboard. Pull the hose off, and at idle , see if a large amount of air is being dumped overboard. A small slight leak is permissable. As in a whiff. Large amount means action needs to be taken.
