how does the weather in my area effect my 7?

I have a 87 TII. Last year (I didn't know much about my car) I had a J-Spec engine with racing beat cat back exhaust, and a moded throttle body. but ohter than that it was basically stock with 121,000 miles on it. over the course of about 4 weeks the temp went from about 28 degrees up to like 60 degrees on and off. my engine lost all compression and I'm lucky one of my apex seals didn't go through my turbo.
I got the engine replaced with a new one (short block not a rebuild) and I've been ok, but the weathers getting cold again (about 32 degrees at night and maybe 45 in the day) should I look in to a beater or are there ways of winterizing my car for the weather I'm looking to drive in. I live in central pa.

weather like that shouldnt affect your motor like that the reason if blew was because of milage. i have an 87 TII also and mine runs better in the cold cause the air temp is cooler so the air is more dence. but i do put my car in the garage and drive a beater for the winter not because of the cold but because of all the damn salt that they put on the roads. here ( i live about 20min north of pittsburgh)

tykelley27....airs denser in cold weather resulting in higher boost figures. Might have caused more stress on a already tired engine. Perhaps your boosting too high in cold weather and having a little detonation. Generaly, how high are you boosting in cold weather?
