How does an oil pressure reg rated too high cause oil smoke? Symptoms?

What is oil smoke? What are the symptoms and how is it caused by having an oil pressure regulator that is rated too high?

Thanks

It pushs the oil past the oil control rings into the combustion chamber(s).&nbsp This causes the engine to burn the excess oil.

Ahhhhhhh, thank you. I didn't understand. So it probably would cause some smoke if yuo floored it and then let up off the gas as it burned the oil that pushed through.

This may actually be happening in my car

any way to test for this?

Thanks

Does this affect power output drastically(from random wetting of the spark plugs) and disrupting proper fuel mixture. How much longer can the engine last from having this bad oil control ring. Mine is smoking very bad above 5krpm.
