How does this deal sound to you?

1987 White rx7. power everything, exellent shape, exellent interior, 79,000 miles. low compressionon rear rotor. $1000

First question:
with only 80K is it likley that I could just do the ATF trick, it just seems like the motor shouldn't have gone that early.

Second question:
It the rotor is bad, I would like to rebuild myself. If someone could give me some advise on rebuilding vs swapping. I have never done this with a rotory before so where d I start.

Third Question:
Is it really worth it?

if it is a manual transmisson car and everything is really as god as you suggest, then yes it a decent deal, but still try and get it for $750.

If you want to try and rebuild yourself, Atkins has a great video for rebuilding the motor. It's around $25 on ebay or at their on-line store. That and a couple of manuals and a buddy or two to help with the heavy things and it is pretty easy IMO, with no real unusual custom tools needed with the exception of a wrench large enough for the ecentric shaft/flywheel (54MM or 2 1/8") and a lock or brace to hold the flywheel from moving. Figure around $800 to $1000 in parts to rebuild if the motor is in decent condition. That could go much higher is a housing or rotor has been damaged.

Either way - it's a gamble.
You could hedge the deal with a lower price.
If the ATF trick fails, you could rebuild or just sell it
