how do you turn off the stock alarm!

so this morning at work I locked my keys in my car, it isnt the first time so I already am a master at the coathanger trick.
anyways, I get home and go to sleep. about 4 hours later my alarm starts going off and woke me up and probably half the neighborhood. so I run outside and try every possible combination of the key and door to try to shut it off, no luck. (yes my door sensors work)
i couldent pull the battery terminals off becuase I had no tools on hand so I hop under the dash and just start pulling fuses untill it shut off.
then I went back to bed, pissed off.

it was kindof odd.. the dealy from the time I broke in my car till the time the alarm went off was about 4 hours.. talk about delay!, the car would have been stripped for parts by now if it was stolen.

anyways.. what is the cirrect combination for turning off the factory alarm (88GXL)

Mine is an S-5 but it turns off by turning the key in the driver door lock. I would think the s-4 would be the same, maybee your door lock sensor is bad.

I'm having the same problem But my problem is that when i bought the gxl the owner swap doors with another rx-7 so now i have manual instead of electrical power window. anyway i'm trying to figure out how to fix it or how to shut it off.
and the alarm wont shut off if i put the key in the door and turn it. this problem shut ***. know i would have to leave the hood crack open a little bit in order for me to get back in the car without the alarm going off on me.

the previous owner of mine put a crappy alarm with remote in it. (and remote start, odd) when the alarm goes off you can push the alarm button for 2 seconds (there are two buttons, one for alarm and one for start) and the alram will stop but the light will still blink and it will go crazy everytime a doow is opened. you can't use the remote to de activate it, the button only makes it go off again. You have to start the engine and turn it off about 3 times then it stops going off and deactivates. I haven't re activated it again for fear of never being able to turn it off. It sucks major, be happy you don't have this problem.

(for any questions about remote start, I just got the car yesterday and I think it only works if your car has the ebrake up and the gearbox in neutral, but I have only used it once on accident trying to stop the alarm and I don't want to play with it too much so I can't tell you how to get a remote start for your 7 or how it works)

Well, after boosting my own car, I noticed that by the ignition cylinder, there's a plastic rectangular piece(can't miss it) that has a wire coming from it. The wire should be a different color...Mine was blue. Pop that wire off....instant dead alarm. Boosting was fun.

thats wrong...

Just turning the Key in any door or the trunk (on verts) to unlock would disarm the factory alarm.

Sounds like a loose nut behind the wheel

Try pressing the unlock/disarm button twice to disarm if the system has been triggered. Most aftermarket systems only reset if the alarm is triggered and you use the remote to shut it off. The second press then disarms it.

And I have remote start on all my cars. The RX-7 is better than most for it, because it has a neutral safety wire and if the remote start is installed correctly it will never remote start unless the car is in neutral (or park if you have a lame automatic)

Hey buddy, no need to be putting down the autos...even if they do suck. Almost done getting all of my pieces for my conversion...but until then, no auto bashing from you. And you call yourself an enthusiast.

Not bashing... simply calling the auto tranny on the FC a poor match to the car... In other words - lame.

And I am not knocking automatics in general. I have auto trannys on every car I own... well everything except RX-7s.

And that you felt you had to post to justify that you have a auto tranny...

For my 88 GTU I just have to lock the door, then unlock it from teh outside. I was trying to figure out how to set the thing off, so me and my friend sat in my car, tried to figure out how to get it to actually activate *Have to open the passanger side door, open driver door, lock passanger, shut pass door, lock my door, shut my door for it to activate. Well we sat there..we rocked the car, tried turning the wheel, everything..and it never went off. We finally gave up, unlocked the door, opened, and it went NUTS..I didn't know how to turn it off. I tried to start the car, it wasn't turning, tried locking my door, nothing. Finally, I opened my hood, and yanked off my battery cable, and it stopped.

Turned out I need to have the door locked, and unlock it from the outside to turn it off.

My alarm sets itself whenever I lock the doors with the key out of the ignition. There's an audible beep when I lock them. If I don't unlock the passenger side before unlocking the driver side the alarm will go off. Is there any way to fix that? BTW, I have a different key for the doors and ignition. Apparently one of the last owners had a lock problem.

Yeah I've got an 88 GTU and had always figured that the alarm didn't even go off. Then one day I left the door locked with the window opened. I reached through the window and unlatched the hood and the whole thing went off for like 5 minutes. I had no idea how to turn it off until I finally just fumbled around and tried turning the key in the door lock.

IF you slim jim the driver door with a hanger then you broke the part that goes on the door key inside the door .. you have to take the door panel off and look to see if you pulled the wires off the lock cylinder in the door ...( go after markit alarm).. one trick is if you find the hood trigger for the factory alarm under the hood you can unplug it and the alarm thinks the hood is open then it wont come on anymore. the problem with that is now you wont have a alarm for the car.. if that does not work take the same trigger wires under the hood and short them out by striping them and twisting them together.
