Hey SkidMark-

A lesson in sarcasm- adding the phrase "yeah- right"
at the end of someone's sentence is a snappy comeback.

Yeah, right.

Why didn't you just re-dye the seats? They can be done almost any color, and must be cheaper than buying different seats all the time...

the original tan seats i bought off of ebay wound up being repaired with epoxy at the seems...so they were okay but nothing to invest my time into..that cheap epoxy crap looked bad, when you took the time to look at it closely..wish i knew before i bought them..but they were a cheap means to an end for me...i used them to solidify my curiousity about the ability of an fd seat in the vert..once i overcame the ability to install..i then decided i want the fd seats in my car..but i didnt want to take the chance of buying another set that was "repaired" coincedentally at the same time i found a local seller of these red seats(giving me the needed option to look at the seats first hand)..the seats have small tears and wear...but are all original leather..which i have the option to repair the leather and sand it and properly dye it another color..as opposed to the crappy spraying technique, which is an overlay..what i can do with original leather is properly repair any tears(which were not at any seams..bad seams=new leather..meaning high dollars..or crappy epoxy cheapo fix..not for me) once repaired i have the ability to remove all the old sedimentation of old cleaners and such..then revitilize the leather by completely stripping it down to its original state..then i can bring its original suptleness and softness back with the appropriate infusion of natural oils and revitalizers..then lastly dye them the color of my choice in exactly the same way they were dyed the first time from the farm/slaughterhouse...and lastly be able to seal them and protect them the same way they were done from the farm/slaughter house..basically bringing them to almost 100% new condition with the color i choose....all of this is dependant on my ability to properly prep them before i begin the redying..and on the product that i have chosen which is used by people who use it on connoly type hydes..in there ferarris and rolls, etc. and win awards for there outsanding interiors..basically if i suck at it or the product sucks then im left with my other options..

sell these red seats and learn my lesson about redying..then pay much more than 100 bucks or soo a pair..like ive been doing..and spring the good money for a pristine set of either black or tan seats.

or buy the katzskin factory replacement kit for a couple hundred more than some 12 year old seats in good condition..and then i have all new leather..with the option of black outside and tan inside or just a solid color of tan or black..if tan then i get some tan carpet and match the doors much the same as the interior of the black and tan fds did with their solid black dash...meeting a largely tan interior.

whatever happens..i dont see red as an option..just too ricey and showy for what i want to accomplish..maybe if i was 16 id like that combo..but i really really want a nice tan and black mix in the vert..or i just go all black as my second choice. much easier

whichever i will only buy one more set of seats and they will have to be black or tan and in very very good shape..and cost much more than around 100 bucks a pair..so far i havent lost money on my experimentation..only lost time..my time..but thats what hobbies are..you pay to put time into something to entertain yourself....right? that seems to be the nature of any enthusiest such as ourselves with these fcs..i didnt buy it expecting to save money..lol i bought it to be able to learn through hands on experience about the whole car(my idea of a piece of art)and give myself the chance to put something into what i love..the vert..it serves two purposes for me..i love driving it and i love learning hands on about it..both ways entertain me, the car entertains me when i get behind the wheel and the work i put into it entertains my need to learn new things, and overcome obstacles..and also gives me the ability to put a little of myself into something i love....arent we stupid creatures...lol

Have you thought of re-dying those with a darker red, perhaps? A nice merlot color or something along those lines. Would be perhaps more unique than tan, and should look snazzy against the black exterior. Just need to find that right tasteful shade of deeper red without getting too dark.

Would give a nice contrast to the black without being a gaudy shade of red.

Just a thought. My interior decorating side is coming out. Oh no! Good thing I don't have to worry about gender identity issues.

Maybe, But the interior would have to accent them, otherwise it'd look bad. I'm gonna try to make custome seat covers for my White RX-7 vert (blue interior). If I ever have the cash I'll mod the whole thing to be black on black with blue or red accents.
