I need to know if there is a casting, stamp, or differences in the years of the manual transmissions.

I have a manual transmission that came with my car that I am trying to sell and I need to know what year of a car it came out of but have no idea how to check.

Check where the transmission mount is. Is there 4 bolts holding on the rubber mount piece or 2 bolts?

2 bolts = S4
4 bolts = S5

Thanks for the info.

Is there a way to tell exactly what year it came out of?

I thought some had different ratios, specifically 5th gear.

There was a 0.690, a 0.711, and another.
