How do you remove the thermofan viscous clutch unit ('86 turbo) ??
The engine cooling fan has a viscous drive clutch with a rectangular plate at its center with springs underneath said plate. I just can't see how to remove the thing as I can't see or feel and bolts or nuts holding the clutch onto the shaft !
Anyone know how to remove it (without removing the radiator cowling, hoses etc...)???

why on earth would u wanna take ur fan clutch apart? if u wanna fix it, ur better off gettin a remanufactured unit. or gettin one from the junk yard. or converting to a HP-saving electric fan.
if ur tryin to rebuild ur fan clutch, dont bother. its the equvalent to rebuilding a brake caliper on a chevy caprice. honing out hte cylinder, and measuring it, and all the seals and ****... a waste of time when its easier and cheaper to just buy a remanufactured one.
besides, i have a feeling, once you take that plate off thats holding that spring, itll pop off, and youll never get it put backtogether the right way.
goodluck tho
