How do you read an EGT?

Alright, i just got an S-AFC and am planning on getting an EGT setup, but im not sure exactly how to read it. In other words, i dont know what temps are safe and what temps are to what ratio. Would it be better just to get a wide ban O2 and a good A/F ratio guage? If so what brands of each should i get and so on. Thanks Guys

there is no real way to know. every engine is different. but around 760c-800c at WOT. tunning should really be done with a wide band o2.

900c on a turbo? What are the temps coming out of the engine if they're already cooled beyond the turbo and still at 900c? on my race car, if it runs over 1700f (926c) then you're in the "cooking the engine" phase. And that's on a non-turbo (the gas doesn't have a turbo to help cool it off with).
