How do you mount a camera in your FC?

I'm pondering ways to mount a camera in my FC... I don't have a roll bar yet, so I can't hang it from that.

How solid is the plastic under the idiot light box? I'm thinking of pulling the bezel off, putting some form of mount in there, and making it so that it's covered with the bezel on - just pull it off, put the camera mount in, and go.

I'd be mounting a fairly heavy camera (older MiniDV, Canon GL3 I believe), and taking it through some hard corners, so it has to be secure - I don't know how much abuse that plastic can take. Maybe a tripod that screws in?

I'd look out for those suction cup windshield mounts. They work pretty well, and can easily be moved from car to car.

I just made one from some aluminum bar I had around. Stradles the hump before the storage bins and puts it about eye level.
