On US cars, they only come on when the headlights are on.
On Canadian cars, they come on when the ignition is on & the hand brake is off.

I always thought the daytime running light option was a good idea.

they also turn off when the high beams go on....i wish there was a little wire you could just snip so you can have your foglights on all the time. other than rewirein em

i just rewired mine to my parking lights. it took me about 20 mins to do so. all you have to do is partially take apart the headlight surround. its not that hard, but i love the daytime running lamps. when its not too dark, but dark enough to need light to make you visable.
