How Do I Mount Front License Plate So It Looks Nice?

Sorry this is kind of a newbie question, but what do you guys do with your front license plates? I have this bracket to put it on, but it kind of doesn't look right with the car. I also see a lot of FCs without any visible license plate in the front, just the back.

I don't have one. Only been pulled over twice and both were verbal warnings. Its been years since anyone has mentioned it again, they must have just gotten chewed out about it at the time since they were both within a week of each other.
If you must have one, then I have seen people custom mount them to the side of the bumper so it doesn't block the rad opening.

In this state there's an exception to the law where if you don't have anywhere to mount it you don't have to have it. It also has to be from the factory like that, well as far as the officers here know mine is. i only use my back plate and i run custom plate "MY FC3S"

if the car came with no front license plate from the factory, it should be legal then right? i was thinking about fighting it with that reason.

Rx7's came with front plates from factory. I have yet to be hassled about no front plate yet. I just took off the mounting bracket and if anyone ever does, I'll point out that there was nothing to mount one too.

Yep. I actually have a (kinda) funny story relating to that. When we lived in Atlanta my dad bought a '64 Austin-Healey that still had the original gold on black California plate on the front. Its actually still in his garage since he had to put on a Texas plate when we moved here.

That's what I do. And it's the ******* pigs that say that it has to be from the factory with out a license holder. Doesn't state it in the RCW

Here's Washington's RCW about plates.

RCW 46.16.240
Attachment of plates to vehicles — Violations enumerated.

The vehicle license number plates shall be attached conspicuously at the front and rear of each vehicle for which the same are issued and in such a manner that they can be plainly seen and read at all times. However, if only one license number plate is legally issued for any vehicle such plate shall be conspicuously attached to the rear of such vehicle. Each vehicle license number plate shall be placed or hung in a horizontal position at a distance of not more than four feet from the ground and shall be kept clean so as to be plainly seen and read at all times. In cases where the body construction of the vehicle is such that compliance with this section is impossible, permission to deviate therefrom may be granted by the state patrol. It shall be unlawful to display upon the front or rear of any vehicle, vehicle license number plate or plates other than those furnished by the director for such vehicle or to display upon any vehicle any vehicle license number plate or plates which have been in any manner changed, altered, disfigured or have become illegible. License plate frames may be used on vehicle license number plates only if the frames do not obscure license tabs or identifying letters or numbers on the plates and the plates can be plainly seen and read at all times. It is unlawful to use any holders, frames, or any materials that in any manner change, alter, or make the vehicle license number plates illegible. It shall be unlawful for any person to operate any vehicle unless there shall be displayed thereon valid vehicle license number plates attached as herein provided.

[2006 c 326 § 1. Prior: 1987 c 330 § 704; 1987 c 142 § 3; 1969 ex.s. c 170 § 10; 1967 c 32 § 18; 1961 c 12 § 46.16.240; prior: 1947 c 89 § 1; 1937 c 188 § 36; Rem. Supp. 1947 § 6312-36.]

yes i know that it says that you have to get it approved by State patrol, but no officer is gonna bother figuring if you did or not. at least here.

I took mine off during repairs and havn't thought twice about it. The 8 cops didn't say anything about it today either when I was witness to a robbery. Though I'm sure they had more pressing matters on the mind.

We're supposed to have a front plate here in MO, but enough people just slog it off, that I think I'm safe to keep it in my front window.

Your profile doesn't say where in Canada you are, but 90% of Canada legally requires a front plate.

You can be lame and put it on the dash so it's visible in the windshield, or make a custom bracket that mounts it lower and off to the corner of the rad opening.

okay so here's the catch 22 with putting the license plate in the windshield, its actually more illegal. it says in most laws that it has to be 4 feet no higher and it has to be attached to the front of the vehicle and then it also brakes another law that states nothing supost to be in you windshield blocking your view. cops in WA at least will pull you over for that before not having it.

no front plate is illegal where I live too, I still don't have one. I've only been asked about it once when I was pulled over (for something else) and told the cop I ordered it from the dealer but they take a while because the cars are old and rare lol. If I were to get a ticket for it I'd zip tie it to my front bumper and take a pic and most likely get the ticket dropped like my friend did with his accord.

I got longer screws and mounted to the front drivers side blinker in the bumper- if you slightly bend the plate- the holes line up perfectly, the slightly curved plate follows the curve to the bumper, so it looks really clean.

I have my sidemarkers blink too, therefore- there is a front blinker, sort of. Its been like that for about 2 years, been pulled over several times. I have NEVER gotten questioned, or hassled about my license plate ever.

theres something you can buy that makes it flip back and up so that at speed you cant see it, an flips down at anything lower than a specific mile per hour.

but when being clocked speeding, they can ticket you for inobservable license plate. You could be a little crafty with an L bracket ( 's- plural) and make a mount from the lower fog light mount in the bumper on the side- I was going to do that, and never got around to it, wow- still havent, nor have I now...
