I have an 87 base model and i recently found out that it SHOULDNT have P/S. But never the less, i do. I am sure that cds00bsmg, who i bought that car from didnt install it. i wonder if the person even swapped out the racks....anyone else ever see this? it might be aftermarket cause it says koyi on it.

 

They all say koyi. Power stearing isn't a bad thing.

 

i like power steering but ths one feels different that other P/S cars. It is almost too loose feeling or something.

 

Sure you have a base model... some people confuse the 87 Luxury with a 87 Base since they both have 4 lug wheels, small brakes, etc.

 

it has power nothing which the lux one did have. No cruise either. Only thing electric is the sunroof.

 

I'm assuming thecar came factory equipped with it, I did not install it. I often wondered why the car lacked power options but had P/S, power sunroof, etc. I expected it not to as well. I don't really have an answer for you, but hey, P/S is a nice option. Maybe sevenspeed installed it?

 

It's easy enough to get rid of anyway, just rip out all that junk and slap in a non power rack, then take it for an alignment.

 

Even if it is not a standard option you can always add options when buying a car new...

Maybe the original owner/purchaser of the car didn't care about anything else but wanted the PS? There's your answer if that's the case.

 

Yeah, from my experience about half of 86-87 base/4 lug cars or 87 turbo cars will have PS, and about half will have manual racks. Everything 88 and up had PS from the factory.

You have a Luxury, not a base if you have a sunroof.
