Question How do I get it started? Help please.

I have the opportunity to pick up a 1986, non-turbo model RX-7, for next to nothing, from an estate sale. My problem is that I am not familiar with the rotary engine.

The car has been sitting for almost a year, and when the owner tried to start it for me, it refused. I know the car was running fine, before, but need to know what can be done to bring it back to life.

I have rebuilt several naturally aspirated V-8's in my time, but never a rotary. I would assume bad gas might have something to do with its refusal to catch, but what else might I need to check?

I have always admired the RX-7's and would like to get this one for one of my boys. All help would be welcomed.

Thanks.

When the owner tried to start it did it crank but not turn over? It is probably due to the engine flooding with a combination of bad gas. Do a search on "unflooding procedure".
