Question How do I fix/replace the secondary fuel injectors?

Hi-

I need to replace my seconday fuel injectors. Since I am not a rotary genuis (though I do know some) I do not know exactly what to do. I was wondering if anyone would give me step by step instructions so I can get this done. Also..I do not know where everything is in my car, so you would have to tell me that too.

Thanks alot.

Mike

Secondary injectors are on the long fuel rail on top, on the throttle body side of the intake.

I would give you instrucions, but its been so long since I've worked on an NA, I forgot how to do it

Secondaries are relatively easier than taking out the primaries. Should not take more than 10 minutes:

1) buy o-rings and grommets.
2) Relieve fuel pressure by unplugging the fuel pump connector by the rear speaker shock tower and run engine till it dies.
3) remove the two 10mm nuts holding the black plastic elbow off the intake manifold.
4) remove the four 12mm nuts on the chamber where this black elbow was attached. Blip the throttle so you can unhook the cable besides the firewall.
5) remove the two 12mm bolts holding the fuel rail down. Take note of the bolts as one is tapered.
6) lift up fuel rail, stick a cloth to catch gasoline as you remove the injectors.
7) Ready to send off to RCEng.

My car spits out gas when cold like it was leaking or something... Is this usually a symptom of the top or bottom injectors???

Also it may help to buzz the secondaries a bit prior to removal; just to get the fuel pressure out so it doesn't gush out like a broken water main.

My way of testing for injector leak is pressurizing the fuel system by bridging the 2pin connector by the front pass shock tower, with key on for like 5mins and no crank. Then remove the lower spark plugs and EGI and crank away with shop tower covering the holes. If they leak real bad then you see see it on your shop towel.
