If you have an after market cd player, cut the blue wire on the radio's harness, and be sure to tape it up so it wont ground out on anything.

unplug the antenna, i believe there is a plug in the back... that way it never comes up... or wire up a bypass switch to it and if you listen to radio flip the switch

If you unplug the antenna plug for the radio, it'll still come up, it just won't get signal. The blue wire sends voltage to the antenna when the radio turns on, telling it to get the hell up, heh heh. Cutting it will disable that pulse and the antenna will never be the wiser. Or just do like me and pull the whole assembly out of the car. Hooray .5 lbs lighter! (I never listen to the radio.)

The antenna "plug" is black and chrome, it should plug into the back of the radio. It'll look like a huge headphone plug. This is just the signal from the antenna. The antenna power wire is going to be blue on an aftermarket stereo harness.

here you go... its a wiring diagram of the radio components out of the factory service manual... you should download it from www.iluvmyrx7.com

Or simply unplug it at the motor itself?

I would say either unplug it from the auto antenna assembly itself, or just take the whole damn thing out. I just stuck a cheap non-powered antenna there, even though I never listen to the radio.

I dunno why that would bother you, but if you still want to be able to use the radio, you need to put a switch in the blue/yellow antenna signal wire. It's in the 3-pin plug. Turning the switch off will keep the antenna down, turning it on will return it to auto.

It doesn't get much easier. You cut the wire you want to insert the switch into, extend the cut ends to your chosen switch location, and terminate the wires onto the switch. Why are you trying to get rid of it?

And then you can't listen to the radio, plus your power locks don't work if you have them. That's real clever man...

I never said it wouldn't work. It shouldn't take a genius to figure out what will happen to radio reception if the antenna isn't extended.
