My car is a 1986 N/A Automatic. I've been thinking about doing the ATF trick since my car has about 135k miles on it. From what I read about doing the ATF trick it's a good thing to crank the engine, but I just don't know how to do it

No do the water trick ATF can ruin your seals. Get a gallon jug and fill it with water. with the car running rev it to 3k and have a friend hold it for you while you uncap a vacume hose and put itn into the jug. lease it untill the watter is all gone.

 

is the starter clicking at all? take out the top sprak plugs, an dget someone to ground one of them and see if they see any spark.. if they dont it might be a dead or low volage battery/ starter. i had to replace the starter on mine. check the fuses under the hood, especially the main one.

 

also there is a main ground under the front coil. take the coil out ( the coil is the thing that holds the 2 top spark plugs) and their shoudl be a ground sticking to the frame of teh car take it out and use some sandpaper or wire brush and clean it out.. try checking the voltage on the CRANk angle sensor and all the possible wires you can if that doesnt work.. post results ill try to help out.

 

My engine start I just wanted to know how to crank it without fireing up the engine so I can do the ATF trick. But 1987RX7guy suggested to do the water trick instead.

Ok, I guess my question is what vacume do I use for the water trick? Where does it hook up to in the engine?
