How can you tell if the alternator belt is slipping?

I still have my air pump but it seems like my belt is slipping. I hear some squeaks on that area. Please help. Once again, TIA!!! You guys have been very helpful.

When you accelerate the engine quickly, you will hear squealing because the crank pulley will spin the belt faster than the alternator pulley is spinning. Usually that happens if you have one belt missing from the dual belt alternator pulley. If you have both belts, it may be the bearing in the alternator, depending on its age.
