Well, to be honest, i'm not sure by looking at the pumpkin...

However you could easily open it, look inside and find out. no?

Got a '89TII and an '88TII whole rear sub frame sitting in the pole shed. Can check tomorrow if you don't have an answer. It's cold and raining quite hard right now.

JUst pull the thing apart and take a look. Its only 10 12mm bolts, slide the axle stubs out, and pull apart. If you dont know what your looking at as far as the LSD goes, post some pics up, or I even think I have a few pics of a visous/clutch, and even torsen LSDs for comparison.

This isn't a fail proof test but it's worth a shot:

On the lower drain plug on the S4 clutch type, there is a tag that says something like "rear diff clutch pack requires a friction modifier". The S5 viscous type does not have this tag.

If you have the tag, it should be an S4.
If you don't have the tag, it could be an S5 or an S4 with a tag missing. Good luck!

Also, on my S4 LSD rear end, on the very bottom of the diff in the center, there was a bulge that was just flat. On my S5 LSD rear end, the bulge was split. Like this:
