how can i turbocharge???

I'm trying to find a way to turbocharge an 88 GXL. But I don't know if anybody manufactures aftermarket turbochargers. Will I have to find all the turbo components out of an old turbo 2? SOMEBODY HELP!!!

This thread rules as a first post..... WELCOME to the forum, prepare to be stoned with a ton of people directing you to the nifty SEARCH function at the top right of the web page....

You have a couple options....

Contact ARRON CAKE- he did a "turbo NA" he will direct you to the needed info

Or

Do like the rest of us and swap in a T2 motor either j-spec or us spec T2.. It's not a weekend job no matter what they tell you and it will run about $2-3k to complete if you do it right and everything works.....

BTW: The search function is at the top of the page to the right.......

So why not just buy a turbo intake manifold (upper and lower) off EBAY along with a throttle body, and bolt it on??? And a ECU also.

So the six ports don't match. So what. It'd still be faster than a stock car.

So, Mr White, what did YOU do. I know you did it, just how?

Simply I did this..... (if you want more info just ask )

Firstly, I had these parts laying around the house from a few other various projects...

Turbo (TC06 heavily modified.. only just using that CHRA now, _much_ bigger exhaust/compressor wheels)

Custom 13b exhaust manifold (sits turbo fair bit futher forward and clears the N/A LIM)

Supra intercooler (3ltr version)

$30 bosch BOV, which I didn't end up putting on because im not a big fan of BOV's.

Fuel/ignition microtech digi 1+ pro (ended up only using it for fuel, using stock N/A comp for ignition)

Enough shiny 2in stainless steel pipe and silicone connectors lying around to connect all the said pieces above.

Then yeah.. bolted it all together really?
Nothing too hard, used the stock N/A intake manifold and the stock injectors, changed the pump to a Series 6 item though, of course.
The injectors were performing fine at 10psi of boost on this turbo. Only got to run it down at the strip on 5psi though...

Got a dump pipe made up to go from the turbo to the cat, a 3in mandrel bent one.

I already had the six port sleeves taken out.

Made postitive manifold pressure at about 2,000rpm if that.
Full boost by 3,500 - 4,000rpm, depending on 5psi or 10psi, remember it's a bigger compressor than a stock S4 one thats why it took a bit later too spool up than a stock one.

Kept the same boost and pulled all the way to the rev limiter at 8,000rpm...

Can't wait until I put the setup on this new motor once it's run in.

Edit: Few small things I forgot, like getting a bung welded into the oil pan for oil return from the turbo, and the adaptor plate to match the TC06 exhaust housing to the S4 manifold pattern. Those too thing were very minor in the grande scheme of things though, I think that cost me about $20 or something .

Can we make it mandatory for people to read the FAQ when they register?

Don't worry buddy I am in no way offended... I was mearly stating that there have been quite a few people that have turbocharged their N/A motors. Just adding more information, not trying to detract from your, perfectly correct, post.
